Use GPS to detect and combat illegal fishing and pirate ships in protected waters

 Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) raised  50,000 pounds (equivalent to approximately RMB 503,018 yuan) in the past 18 months for the purchase of waters monitoring vessel for Sherbro River region, Sierra Leone village. They use GPS to detect illegal fishing vessels in 10 protected waters and the pirate ship data as well as 252 cases of illegal fishing independent report.

Monitoring boats use GPS to position illegal fishing and sea wolves and make an analysis of the data. The data and evidence was passed to the European Union (EU) and African governments, then they do enforcement of law. It is reported that the illegal fishing of the West African coast has been troubling West African countries for 20 years. A lot of large tonnage of illegal fishing boats and pirate ship hits hit the economy of the countries on the West African coast.
