Elderly, Navigation and Traffic Accidents?

There is always sense that we should not send text messages while driving, because it makes you distracted and leads to traffic accidents. However, you may take it for granted to focus on the GPS Navigation screen. In this respect, I am sure that all of us share the common opinion.

Carnegie Mellon enhance driving performance of the elderly

Especially the elderly, they are more likely to be distracted because of staring at the GPS Navigation screen. In order to solve this problem, a professor in the United States has developed an effective tool tip, which can raise their safety awareness.

The human computer interaction technology “Carnegie Mellon” invented by American professor can enhance the driving performance of the elderly. In the test, no matter the driver is young or old, they can let the navigation to give hints via a special signal.

For example: “turn left”, in this case, the special steering wheel will shake and suggest that you should turn left. It can avoid traffic accidents in the way that the elderly do not have to look at navigation screen from time to time and responds to the situation on the road or the hints too slowly. This function is of great use for the Unite States where the aging problem is more and more obvious and common.
